Kimko privacy policy

Data Kimko handles

Kimko stores the accounts, balances, entries, investment, crypto and pension month-end balances, categories, spending plans, savings, investment, crypto and pension goals, dates, optional interest rates, profile name, and preferred display currency that you enter. Monthly statements are generated from this saved ledger on your device. Kimko also stores a random database key and your app-lock preference in the device's protected credential storage.

What we do not collect

Kimko has no account system, backend, advertising, analytics, or crash-reporting service. Your financial records are not sent to the publisher or used for tracking, profiling, advertising, credit scoring, or automated financial advice.

On-device security

Financial records are held in an encrypted SQLCipher database. The database key is generated on your device and kept in its protected credential storage. Optional biometric unlock is performed by the operating system; Kimko does not receive or store your biometric data.

No technical control can protect data on a fully compromised or already-unlocked device. You remain responsible for device access controls and software updates.

Encrypted backups

A backup is created only when you ask for one. Kimko encrypts it on your device with your passphrase, then hands the encrypted file to the system share sheet. Kimko does not retain the file, passphrase, or recovery key. The destination you choose has its own privacy practices.

Statement exports

Monthly PDF recaps and transaction CSV files are created only when you request an export and confirm that the file will be readable. Kimko generates the file on your device, hands it to the system share sheet, and removes its temporary copy. Statement exports are not encrypted by Kimko. You are responsible for protecting or deleting the copy saved to your chosen destination.

Retention and deletion

Your data remains on your device until you edit it, select Erase financial data in Kimko's Privacy screen, or remove the app. Uninstall behaviour is controlled by your operating system. Exported backup and statement files are separate and must be deleted from their chosen destination by you.
